The Fall Collection for Topshop is divided into a wide arrange of interesting categories, Horror Girl (punk rock inspired), Manhattan Cocktail (glitz, glam, and shine), Marianne (boho fringe), and Highland Fling (Scottish inspired). Take a look below and you will see each of the inspired looks. The super high boots, sequined cocktail dress and blazer are clearly Manhattan. The red and black dress and studded booties are punk. The feathered headdress and vest are boho chic. While the button down jacket with plaid interior is casually Scottish. They work because each look isn't over the top or a caricature of the inpiration.

Anna Wintour Thinks Models Are Too Thin??

Newsflash Ana Wintour, the editor-in-chief at Vogue Magazine, thinks that models are too thin. Tell us something we don't already know Ms. Wintour. Nonetheless it's a breathe of fresh air to hear from the authority of the fashion industry that we may expect to see a small change in the sometimes predictable world of fashion. Although her claims are hard to swallow considering her own magazine is full of leggy pencil thin models.

I wish I could say the same for the young women who were just on the runways at the New York fall collections. Overall, they were pale and thin, and entirely lacking in the joyfulness and charm that once defined the supermodel. This, of course, is not their fault: Designers now near-uniformly favor a non-vivacious, homogeneous ideal.

I agree, designers do favor a homogeneous ideal, however so do magazine editors. The desire for perfection and the 'waif' look that many consider to be ideal, is something that has been ingrained in our society for quite some time now. It will take more than a statement to affect any change. In Europe we have seen some changes such as during Madrid Fashion Week when some models were rejected for being too thin. The Association Of Fashion Designers of Spain said they wanted to project and image of 'beauty and health.' I'm not encouraging that designers begin to discriminate on either end, however I think people are ready for some fresh new concepts. Fashion is about innovation and it is about time we start to see something new.

The Right Way To Pull Off A Full Skirt

Both Angie Harmon and Tracee Ellis Ross (Diana Ross' daughter) attended the screening of Trembled Blossoms wearing a full skirt.

THE RIGHT WAY
Angie Harmon knows how to pull off a full skirt and this skirt is a beautiful one. She paired the full skirt with a fitted v-neck top. It is especially important to use a fitted top because of the fullness of the skirt. You want to show that you have a body under all that fabric. I think I may have seen this outfit on a worst dressed list, however I love the look. Personally, I don't always agree with those best dressed lists anyways.


THE WRONG WAY
Tracee Ellis Ross did not pull off the full skirt look. At first glance she looks well, frumpy. The shirt she is wearing doesn't provide any shape for her figure. It isn't fitted and comes all the way up to her neckline. She is completely covered. The print on the skirt makes her look like she is wearing a table cloth and the colors are ill paired and boring. The skirt does nothing for her.
